    Ontario Government maintains strong rate for variable-rate Ontario Savings Bonds
    The Ontario government announced today that the interest rate for the Variable-Rate Ontario Savings Bonds (OSBs) will stay at 3.9 per cent for the next six months.

    Total sales for the 2006 Ontario Savings Bonds campaign are $1.374 billion.

    The sales breakdown is as follows:

    • Variable-Rate Bonds     $737 million
    • Step-Up Bonds             $443 million
    • Fixed-Rate Bonds         $194 million

    Finance Minister Greg Sorbara announced interest rates for the 2006 issue of Ontario Savings Bonds (OSBs) that go on sale today, calling them a safe investment with competitive rates.
